Arriving to a very warm reception at 33 Davies Street ‘Merriment’ by Lucy Unwin will be in residence for the next six months.
The inspiration for both Unwin’s steel and stone work derives from natural forms, be it organic shapes found in nature or, the human figure itself. In particular, the steel work explores how the posture of the human body can represent feeling and emotion, from the solitary figure standing alone in contemplation to these dancers interacting with each other lost in their own world.
Lucy Unwin gained a BA Hons in Fine Art Sculpture at Winchester School of Art before spending time carving in Pietrasanta, Italy. She has exhibited in the UK and Sweden and sold work to both public and private collections across Europe, America and the Caribbean.
