BCO Berlin – Art Programme

BCO Berlin – Art Programme

Art Acumen worked with the British Council for Offices (BCO), led by Katrina Kostic Samen (President of the BCO and founder of KKS), to devise an art programme for their annual conference in Berlin. This included an art tour of the city and Instagram based photography competition for the delegates.

The Art Tour: A walking tour of Berlin, which included relevant observations of the art, culture and history of Berlin that have contributed to it being Europe’s hippest city with a thriving start-up scene. The tour had a graffiti focus, looking at its background in relation to the subculture.  Graffiti is an important component of Berlin’s underground art and cultural scene, which contribute to the uniqueness and creativity that defines the German capital.

BCO Photo Berlin: We wanted to create a project without barriers, that was easy to participate in and that communicated thoughts and observations beyond the BCO Conference. As well as providing us with a visual map of the weeks’ activities, the photography competition added a layer of contemplation, art and poetry to people’s experience as they participated in conference events and explored the city.

Delegates were invited to take photographs of Berlin (inside and out) over the course of the weekend capturing the conference themes: DIVERSITY, INCLUSION, INNOVATION & CONNECTION and upload them to Instagram using #bcophotoberlin

Following the conference the photographs were shortlisted by Art Acumen ready for judging by a select panel, spanning the photographic, cultural and architectural worlds (click here for details of our judges).

Our four category winners and overall winner and runner-up were selected and announced on the BCO website and prizes were awarded (full details, including judges comments can be found here).

In addition, the overall winner and runner-up were invited to receive their prizes at the President’s lunch, at the Dorchester.

Our overarching aim is to enhance people's lives through creating high quality, engaging and memorable places for people to live and work in.
