Art Acumen undertook a full art audit and valuation on behalf of multinational City law firm Ashurst, in preparation for the move to their new London headquarters. Over a two week period, working out of hours, we carefully audited and labelled 300+ works over two sites, including many pieces in storage. We produced a comprehensive catalogue of the collection, and reports including condition, insurance/resale values and recommended routes to market, as well as identifying suitable pieces for the art committee to review for the new building.

To assist with internal discussions on art for the new space, Art Acumen worked with firm’s art committee to establish an overall philosophy and themes to consider when selecting artwork from the existing collection and for any future acquisitions.

“When curating artwork on behalf of an organisation, we need to firstly understand and agree on what the collective ‘like’ is or to put it another way, what is “meaningful” to that organisation? This will form the basis of the philosophy for the collection and wider art programme.”
