Creativity for Wellbeing

As each week in lockdown passes, we respond and adapt to it at a pace.

The one thing that has been constant for us though is staying connected to family, friends, and colleagues, and to make sure everyone is supported.

In both our professional and personal lives, we champion the power of creativity as a way of nurturing wellbeing.

Engaging in a creative process gives us time and space for distraction, contemplation and a way to connect with others.

Many creatives and artists have been thinking of new ways to help people do this. One of the artists we have been working with is the poet Beth Calverley, who brings the wellbeing benefits of creativity to her co-created poetry. Through recently developed online experiences, Beth has been bringing colleagues, family members and friends together to share in meaningful poetry co-creations.

We gifted  these bespoke poetry sessions to each of our team members and their families, to help them express their shared experiences and discover their silver linings during this time. The resulting poems have become personal artefacts and records capturing their time together as families in lockdown.

Some comments from our team

A reflective moment of connection and collaboration”

“Unfiltered and honest. A sense of mindful immediacy”

“Very special to be gifted it and then to have a really lovely experience with Beth and my family. It ran very smoothly even with 2 young children!”

“It was very precious and a totally new experience for us all to have together.”

Beth has developed a warm and engaging online experience, where she gently hosts a conversation to draw out thoughts and memories, after which she speed-crafts the ideas into a beautiful poem, live in the moment, on her vintage typewriter. She then reads the poem aloud and posts the type-written poem to her guests.

You will find other online creative activities to engage with your colleagues, family and friends via our monthly publication  Creative Interlude“, where we share art & design talks, activities & interactions, and TLDR for the arts.

If you would like to receive Creative Interlude please follow this link and leave you name and email address, be sure to tick the ‘join our mailing list’ box at the bottom.
